how to test TSOP 1738

Hi all,
      i tried to test TSOP 1738 using connection as shown in attachment but i didnt get output voltage. can anyone help me to solve this

A quick look at the data sheet has a >10k resistor between 'Out' and Vs to pull it up, the data sheet comments 'out' should not be left 'low'.
this may be a starting point, others I am sure will help.
Whoah! Watch where that landed we might need it later.

The moment I read your post, I walked away of the PC, got a tsop1738, connected it as shown and tested the receiver with an oscilloscope to make sure it works, then tested it with a multimeter.

 first of all measure the output voltage WITHOUT pressing any button on your TV remote, it should be 5V.

Secondly, when a button is pressed( keep holding the button), the receiver output will go down and up at 38KHz( you can see this if you have an oscilloscope), which will result in an output voltage drop at the output ( mine shows 4.4V)

I can't be the only one who thought "a 1738-pin TSOP...? What?" :o
