HP Blade 50 volt server power supply connector questions.
« on: May 24, 2013, 04:05:43 pm »
I have just bought an HP 3000 Watt (48 volts at 57 Amp) Blade type
server PSU off Ebay here in the UK. It's for a semiconductor linear
amplifier project I wish to build.

Has anyone found a good means of connecting cabling to the
special blade input and output connectors on these hot
swappable supplies? Or a source for the correct connectors that might
take a cable? Thanks.
Best regards,

                 Chris Wilson.

If it's one of those ones where it's just a bit of PCB sticking out with contact areas on the top and bottom, you could possibly use an edge connector (plenty of cheap ones on ebay etc).

You would have to find one's of the correct size, and those server supplies don't always have a standard width that matches to any edge connector (which are typically multiples of ~4mm).

Molex do some: http://www.molex.com/molex/products/family?key=extreme_poweredge_&channel=products&chanName=family&pageTitle=Introduction&parentKey=edge_card_connectors

If you get lucky, you might find the correct one that HP has used :)
