iPad charge rate vs battery life
« on: August 11, 2016, 12:45:39 am »
It's not renewable energy but is is definitely a battery topic. I have an iPad charger with 2.4 amps output and an iPhone charger that has 1 amp output. If I am not concerned about the charging time would there be any benefit of using the smaller charger on the tablet seeing it would be gentler on the batteries?

Nope, it'll just charge slower.
Batteries have a finite cycle limit anyway, only over heating or over discharge is likely to affect it.

By the time the battery dies on an iPad you may want a faster version anyway, I'm still getting a whole day out of my original iPad 1 and I'm hoping the freaking thing dies soon so I can justify a newer one.

My iPad takes over 3 hours to charge even with the standard large charger, which is within the normal range for a lithium ion battery. If the battery does not get warm during charging (mine doesn't), then I don't think there is anything to be concerned about.
