iso image creation

is there any soft ware that will convert a bootable hardisk/usb to a bootable iso image

Imgburn will allow you to do it and it's free (and safe).
In my opinion the best burning software out there.

When you choose the menu option - create an image file from files/folders
You will see an advanced tab and bootable disc tab, here you can enable the iso image as bootable.
You can extract (dump) the boot info if required from an existing drive or image.

Most operating systems have low level way of dumping the boot info this in the OS itself so even if imgburn can't dump it within the program you can get around it and just use Imgburn to select it for inclusion.

I've made bootable CDs and DVDs images this way from windows and linux works great.
Get help on their forums if you need further assistance.
