ITEAD intelligent switch
« on: March 16, 2013, 04:54:35 pm »
Hi, guys!

Well, I was visiting the ITEAD Studio website and I found this:

http://blog.iteadstudio.com/itead-intelligent-switch-installation-tutorial/

They say that the wiring of this thing is a "in line" wiring, or something like that and I don't understand how can they make it receive the power it needs to function and disconnect the load at the same time! I can assume that they are using some kind of storage method to store energy or they are just controling the amount of voltage that gets to each device in series, like a voltage divider... But, again, I'm just assuming and still I don't know how they can accomplish that...

I would assume the same way that my z-wave (wireless) dimmers work, they draw a small current through the load even when "off".

So they just control the impedance of the light switch? Can someone draw a block diagram or a simplified circuit?
