IU2DH smd code
« on: December 03, 2017, 08:37:05 pm »
Hello Community,
would be great to get some advice.
I try to fix my electronic teethbrush, a philips sonicare. With an instruction in the net I manage to open it and after poking around I found an smd IC, 6 legs, which get extremly hot. Probably it is shorted.

The smd code is IU2DH. I checked the web and my smd mobile apps but couldn't find what device it is.
I am not at all an expert in smd devices, so it might be that IU2DH is not exactly the name I should look for.
At least I found an image (I didn't manage to link the picture in here, just look for IU2DH in google pictures), but no description nor a datasheet nor a webshop to by a replacement...

Any idea what it is and where to find a replacement part?
Than You,
Axel

Hi, I know this is an old post, but I'm in a similar situation.

I bought replacement mechanical couplings for two of these toothbrushes I have.
Two? Because I refused to throw away the first one that failed.
I successfully replaced both couplings but the older toothbrush became intermittent on reassembly.
It turned out that the negative tag had become detached from the cell.
What I believe has happened is there has been some back-emf from the output drive coil which has not been able to dump into the battery because of the intermittent connection, so has over-voltaged this IC.
It gets hot, pulling 200mA from the supply.
It measures 20 Ohms across the supply.

The functions of the PIC micro all seem perfectly fine.

However in my toothbrush this IC (U1) is marked IU2CJ.
Initially I thought one of the adjacent ceramic caps (C4) was shorted, but this was not the case.

Anyone any ideas what this IC is? My guess is battery charging and protection.

Thanks,

Simon.

Perhaps the "I" is not an "I" but a "pin 1" indicator line; one of the hits for U2xx on the famous Russian site is MP(Q)9361DJ, and I found someone selling them with a picture that shows they have an (I)U2xx marking.

Edit: your picture shows a big capacitor across pins 4 and 6, which definitely matches with the '9361. Trace the other pins and see where they go.

Cheers Amyk,
That does look promising, particularly with the layout of the capacitors.
Unfortunately I'm away till Friday evening so won't be able to do the tracing until then.

Thanks again,

Simon.

I must thank you again, Amyk.

After reviewing the data sheets for both the MP9361 and MPQ9361, the only real difference is temperature range.
Also the MP9361 shows the marking format with the line or letter I (IAAAA), whereas the MPQ9361 only shows AAAA.

Also I have found a local supplier so have ordered 2 as well as some other ICs I needed for current projects.

For info,
The MP9361 was replaced and the toothbrush is now electrically 100% working.

On assembly I noticed I had punctured the end cap, so just need to locate one of those before actually using it, otherwise it will fail from water ingress.
