Kicad Via Connections
« on: October 03, 2015, 09:22:55 pm »
Hi everybody
I am working on a project that is made by Kicad. In the Kicad schematics there are via connections i guess otherwise there will be no connections between top layer and bottom layer. How do we figure out which holes are vias and which are for thru-hole components?
Thanks

Via's have smaller drill holes than standard through hole components, and when using the PCB program they look different from the larger through hole pads.

Also, if you turn on the silk screen and solder mask layers you can see those are nearby to/attached to pads, but not the vias.

The default renderer (F9) makes the pads and vias look similar except for the drill size.  However, if you use the OpenGL or Cairo renderer (F11 or F12) then the vias look very different from the pads.
