Low cost 12V relay/30A
« on: December 22, 2014, 08:37:42 am »
1. I need low cost 5 pin, 12V relay with SPDT & in both NC & NO state current should be 30A or higher.

2. Any suggestions?

3. I have searched this relay, but it is costly, any cheaper part?:

Do you have DC or AC to switch?
Relays might say they can handle DC 30 Amps, but they might not be able to switch 30 Amps DC that many times. DC has a high change of welding the contacts together because there will always be current, also when the contact resistance is at its highest point in the switching action.

To Add End application: Will be switching main on or off depending upon some condition.
Input driving : 12V dc
Output control : 220V ac , 30A ac , 50Hz

That's an automotive relay don't use it for 230VAC application. use properly rated relay, i would use those motor relay for 30A ... am sure you not find a proper relay under 2$

I agree. This reasonable price for an automotive relay designed to switch only 12V. A mains relay with this current rating will be far more and if you find one cheaper, then it's a fake so don't buy it.

For those kind of relays, to switch off your entire house just after the main fuse, you'll be looking at $50 to $500 relays. Actually, contactor is a more common term for these.
Such as these: http://nl.rs-online.com/web/p/contactors/7434918/

What plug is on your device? If you running 6 kW through 1 phase you'll be having some heavy wiring.
6mm squared and above, depending on fusing.
