Making inductors!
« on: April 30, 2017, 12:53:14 am »
Someone found this awesome site: http://hamwaves.com/antennas/inductance.html

I entered in

D
=  0.64mm for 22ga wire Mean diameter of the air core coil, measured from wire centre to wire centre

N
= 5
Number of turns
?
=  45 mm
Length of the coil, measured from the connecting wires centre to centre
d
=  4 mm
Wire or tubing diameter
455mhz design freq.

Calculator says: 0.00003348976658323965uH
Quote
Frequency-independent series inductance from the current-sheet coil geometrical formula, corrected for field non-uniformity and round wire[2,4-7]
was blank for
Quote
Effective series inductance at design frequency from Corum & Corum's sheath helix waveguide formula, corrected for field non-uniformity and round wire[1,2,4-7]
That's 0.03348nH?
Seems too low

That's for NTE red coated magnate wire. Is there a chart for air core inductors?

By doubling the turns to ten and wire length to 85 (80 for coil and 2.5 for each lead) it says: 0.00039868078615111344uH,

So TEN times the inductance for double the length and turns?

You entered a coil made of copper tubing with a wiggle smaller than its width -- this can hardly be called a solenoid winding! :-DD

Check the drawing closely and then enter the values correctly. :-+
