Math help in datasheet
« on: April 26, 2015, 05:36:21 am »
I am going through a data sheet for a boost controller - TI TPS43060. In the section about calculating the output caps, I am not getting the same answer as the datasheet example.

Equation (24) when I solved in excel gives me 53.3uF where the datasheet answer is 21.3uF. Am I wrong or mis-interpreting what seems to be rather simple. Equation (23) evaluates as expected.

excel:
Code: [Select]
=(0.6*5)/(750000*0.075)
Thank you for any comments. I am more than willing to put on a dunce hat if needed.

Looks like a typo. They've used IIN (5A) instead of IOUT (2A) in the formula. Using 2A gives 21.3 ?F.
Lecturer: "There is no language in which a double positive implies a negative."
Student:  "Yeah...right."

you are correct.

I think the culprit is here......

Going a few pages up to look at the feeder data, it shows Iout should be 2A not the 5A shown in the equation example. Had me running in circles thinking I was nuts.

Not sure who to send a message to.
