Measuring 3-phase power with Rigol DS1054z
« on: June 19, 2017, 10:06:49 pm »
Hi!

I would like to measure power of the 3-phase machine using my 4-channel scope Rigol DS1054z. I would like to do this using this method here: http://teledynelecroy.com/doc/threephase-power-measurements-using-a-fourchannel-scope-to-measure-threephase-power

I can borrow differential and current probes, however, I doubt that my Rigol can do these calculations itself. What would be the easiest solution to calculate power? Record waveforms and then somehow export data to Matlab or something similar? Can anyone shed some light here? Thanks.

You can also use excel for the analysis.  I'm not going to math part typing with this phone. PS. I'm  not familiar on Rigol scopes, but I would be suprised if there would not be math and analytics functions inbuild.. RMS(mean/integral), phase angle (in cursor menu) and peak value.. etc. Rest of the article looks like using straight forward "frozen phasors" method (right term escaped from my head) in calculationss. The differential and current probes are essential for your safety.
