Modifying a Class A amplifier design for more gain

Hi all,
I've built this small circuit and am using it as a microphone preamplifier:

It has a maximum gain of about 30dB. Would be feasible to increase the gain to around 50dB by adjusting values with the existing circuit topology or would a different design be required?

Different design. Or cascade more.
Trying to obtain much higher gain from a simple amplifier will also see your bandwidth shrink. Better to use more stages of less gain.

Rod Elliott knows what he's doing when it comes to audio design and I would be very reluctant to change any of the component values. Also, think of this, a gain of 50dB is about a x316 voltage gain which is a lot for one stage. Best to cascade them.

Configure the amplifier so the current through the transistor is constant.
