motion activated message with flashing lights
« on: August 25, 2016, 01:01:39 pm »
Hello All
I am retired and a complete beginner when it comes to electronics. I will need to be spoon fed information if I am to be successful with my project. I hope there is enough people on the forum with patience and understanding to help me.
I have a display in the shape of a pyramid, it is hollow. I take it to shows, fetes, etc., but I wanted to draw peoples attention to my display and therefore our stand.
I wanted my display to have a motion activated sensor, so when people were walking by it would activate a prerecorded 10 second message and five small L.E.D. lights at the same time, just for a short period to draw peoples attention.
I am hoping the circuitry will be small enough to be concealed in the hollow of the pyramid display, which could also act as the box for a small speaker.
I have tried to search the internet for any pre-made items that fit my description, but without success. I did find a motion activated speaker that would give a 10 second message (speaker likely to large to conceal), but nothing with flashing L.E.D. lights.
Therefore I thought the only option was to make it myself as getting someone to make it for me would be too expensive.
If I knew what components I needed, where to source them and guidance on putting the circuitry and bits together, I could achieve a successful and affordable outcome.
Here's hoping someone can help. Thanks. :-+

What you want is something called a passive infrared sensor (PIR sensor)

Here is one :

If you supply it with 5V, when triggered the output will go high (5V).
Next you will need a sound play back device :

You will have to figure out the amplifier and speakers yourself
You can figure out the flashing lights yourself.
