NEC (UP)C4570C replacement opamp?
« on: June 05, 2012, 06:48:30 am »
Hi,

I'm trying to fix two dead channels on a Roland M-480 line mixer. The channel board has a couple of NEC (?) C4570C opamps on them.
I am looking for a replacement for this opamp because I don't think any of the major suppliers carry it anymore.

My google-kungfu is not that good and I could not find any replacement suggestions...

PS: If someone has the schematic for the Roland M-480 I would be very interested  :P

Thanx,
Marc

I'd suggest the NE5532. I haven't read through the whole datasheet of the NEC device, but on first glance it looks as if the NE5532 should do nicely.

For line mixing a NE5532 will do just fine.

Still available, I bought some not long ago from RS I think. I'll take a look...

Yep, here we go (not the same brand or exact model but surely close enough)- http://australia.rs-online.com/web/c/semiconductors/amplifiers-comparators/op-amp/?searchTerm=4570

You can also get these things from manufacturers, I've ordered them from Yamaha Pro Audio's service department before when I wanted to be sure I got the closest match.

I think you could whack a bunch of different chips in and get the same result though if necessary, these don't seem to be anything too crucial in mixing boards where I've seen/replaced them

Seems like rs-online only has that stock for Australia.  :'(

I think I'll order NE5532's.

I desoldered some chips from another part of the board and the two dead channels seem to work fine again at the first stage, where the signal was very weak compared to good channels - not in totality because I removed an op-amp from the end of the signal flow on each board. So I think I fixed it, just need 2 replacements for the chips I 'borrowed'.

I put in the NE5532's and it works great! I fixed the mixer! It's a good feeling to fix something  ;D
I cleaned all the knobs and removed the finger dirt from the front panel and it looks great!

Thanks for the help.

Glad to hear it!

If you decide later that you want to put the 4570's in give me a yell and maybe I can get them and send them to you.

Hi all,
I'm trying to repair the same exact mixer and the only replacement in SIP package I've found is the NJM4580L.
Would it be suitable as a replacement?

Thanks!
