Need advice for flux (reflowing)
« on: January 19, 2015, 05:37:09 pm »
Hi guys!

I want to reflow the gpu on my laptop but i need flux to do that.
So i had a look in my city and i found a guy that sells this http://www.kontaktchemie.com/KOC/KOCproductdetail.csp?product=FLUX%20SK%2010
I can't speak german very well but i think it is flux right?
And after I'm done can i use it for normal solder jobs too?
I really want to know because i don't want to waste it :D
If it isn't good can you recommend me flux from ebay or a shop in the netherlands?
And how much do i need to use?

No, that's not flux, that's a solder-through varnish for storing unused boards.

Reflowing your GPU is probably not going to do what you hope.

What is your GPU? If Nvidia chip made before 2009, reflow could give it a bit more life, like week, maybe few months. But it won't repair the defect. That is a chip, not soldering fault.
