Title: New Rigol 1054Z Oscilloscope Dust Cover?
Post by: BergRD on January 26, 2018, 09:04:00 pm
Greetings!

Been lurking a while now here and watching Dave's video's now for years but never signed up.  Upon doing so got deep and purchased my first new scope since I used a family member's back in the day (I'm 45 now).  Due to the wife, kids, pets and a dry and dusty area (farmers plowed fields), it tends to get a bit on the 'dusty' side of things here where I have my bench.  Over the years I've been pretty diligent about keeping up on our larger devices like computers, LED TV's etc but dust finds a way.  Because I want to preserve as much as I can my equipment I was wondering if there are or if anyone knows, other than making one myself, a place that sells dust covers for equipment such as this scope?

I had done my learning on the sewing machine, again back in the day, but likely could throw together something with some scrap material and a machine.  While not optimal I see those crafty sheilas on Youtube doing this for all kinds of things like their sewing machines, Cricut cutters, etc.  Figured it couldn't be THAT hard with enough time and patience but because my time can mean money; I thought to ask for anything premade prior.

I see someone on eBay UK selling one for a Rigol Spectrum Analyser so someone other than me has the idea so asking here.

Thanks again for all the great posts, dialog and whatnot here in the forums and to Dave for an excellent series of YouTube.

P.S. eBay link (if allowed) to said cover above @ eBay auction: #https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DUST-COVER-Rigol-DSA815-DSA832-DSA875-Spectrum-Analyser-Digital-Oscilloscope/232614966079?hash=item3628eeb33f:g:B6YAAOSwIWtZ0ijq

Cheers,
~Richard

No worries, made my own, lol..

Still would be interested in any pre-made ones if anyone has info.  Thanks!

Nice work mate, but some thin clear plastic first, then your cover on top should keep most dust issues away

otherwise every time you lift and place back the material on its own, some fine dust gets around

Stitch some clear plastic lining on the inside of the cover and you're set  :-+

FWIW I use an open carton box as a cover, and I can put light stuff on top when the DSO isn't being used,

it's fast, keeps nasties out and the DSO can breath too   :phew:

Hey, welcome to the forum
