I have no-one else to share this with that would care/understand except you guys so...
After fighting with my Tek 7613 for over a month (purchased to learn electronics with) that is out of cal and has some minor issues of proper function :-BROKE, I broke down and got a Rigol 1054z that will work for the hobby and to fix my 7613. I'm so excited! I can't believe how many bits are in this digital scope. Oh my gosh! :-DMM
Early Christmas present to myself. So excited! Got plans to get a Lambda Triple Output vintage PSU for the lab as well, looks quite solid and has all 6 gauges!

It is a versatile little device.
I am sure: Sometimes you will be impressed, what this "Hobby/Beginner" oscilloscope is able to do.
And it is allways nice to have 4 channels...

Keep the 7613. With many varied plugins its till quite useful and
flexible. Online you can find scanned copies of old Tek catalogs,
and see all the specialized plugins, like samplers, high gain diff
plugins, counters, spectrum.....

I have been playing with a lot of older scopes lately. There is much to like about them, including a generally simpler and more intuitive interface. But I am finding the compact size and very light weight of my Rigol very appealing. When a measurement is out of reach of the scope probes it is really easy to move the scope, and doesn't require putting on a lift belt.
Not all of the appeal of these things is in the broad functionality.

I agree with you guys, I plan to repair the 7613, it's not that far out. But I really did need a solid 'reference' to know if my time mark generator and function generator are on point enough to reset my 7613. It certainly has some power to it that this scope doesn't. Interesting to know that sort of thing.
I've learned so much from just trying to learn the whole "scope" if you will, of what is involved in the mainframe series.
