Noise in CRO
« on: January 29, 2015, 11:57:54 am »
I am using CRO to measure area under grap plotted by DAC output from MCU.
Problem is when I put probe on MCU output pin, there is random noise in signal i.e signal is not smooth.
That why I cannot read exact area under curve from MCU.

Earlier I thought noise could be from MCU pin. But I put the probe on GND pin of MCU, same random noise appears on it also.
CRO ground pin is connected to ground pin of MCU.

The noise is probably being picked-up in the ground lead of your probe. Basically, wires have inductance, even short wires have significant inductance at higher frequencies! The video linked in this thread explains the problem:

What is your ground of the CRO connected to?
