Odd shaped pads (jumpers and shorts) in eagle or PADS?
« on: January 29, 2016, 06:54:22 pm »
Is it possible to do these in Eagle or PADS? They're simple solder jumpers and shorting terminals for power-on resets.

It is possible, but you'll have to create your own part. You cannot do this directly in the PCB editor without errors.

[edit] That was specific to Eagle and KiCAD. I'm not familiar with other programs. [/edit]

Hi

Some layout programs allow you to drop in "conductive shapes" without spouting errors. That can be good if you put the shape where it should be. It's a massive pain if you put it where it should not be. It's been in Expedition forever and ever. It may be in PADS by now.
