How do you physically identify pin 1 on a dual OP Amp if there are no markings on it? Is it something to do with one of the edges being chamfered, and that would point out to pin 1/2/3/4 on that side?

The drawing for the SO-8 package in that datasheet (page 21) shows the position of pin 1 with respect to the chamfered edge.

Looking at the top of the package with the chamfered edge to the left, pin one is at the top left hand side.

Fantastic. Mounted it the other way and already supplied 10V to it. Now it's out of the circuit and measures MegaOhm between ground and positive, and also MegaOhm between inputs and outputs. So this one is fried, right?

It's very probably dead, but unless there's an obvious short you can't really tell just by measuring resistance between pins.
