Physical mounting of a 0.96 oled display
« on: April 10, 2016, 08:57:08 pm »
I have this popular 0.96 inch oled display that I want to mount in a case.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/0-96-I2C-IIC-SPI-Serial-128X64-White-OLED-LCD-LED-Display-Module-for-Arduino-/201428440360?hash=item2ee6121528:g:MOYAAOSwv0tVeD0N

I tried to dremel a nice rectange but the display itself is not rectangle in nature (ribben connector in the way) and pins are also sticking out. How does this normally get mounted in a case so that the outside is nice and flat? Sort of transparant film or something?

What I've done is roughly cut out the hole for the display, hot glue the display in place and stick on a transparent film with a black border printed on it.

How do you adhere the transparent film to the faceplate, some type of glue?

Here's how i'm going to do the LCD bezel for my next project: didn't have any transparent foil for laser printer at hand, so i just laminated one empty pouch, printed the frame on it and then laminated it again two times to make it thicker. Going to try that adhesive sticky tape used for cellphone display repairs to attach the LCD cover to the box.
