PICKIT-3 WOES.
« on: June 16, 2017, 06:01:30 am »
Help..
This morning I was working on a small project and burning to my pic OK.
I had to go shopping with my wife and when I got home I went back to MPLAB to do some more work.
I was unable to burn the program to chip.  PIC12F675
I keep getting greeted with an error message.

Initially I found that the Pickit-3 had lost part of its setup.
namely
         POWER
Power target device from Pickit-3 was reset to disable. I.e. unchecked
once I reset that I stared getting the following message.

Quote
Connecting to MPLAB PICkit-3...
Firmware Suite Version.....01.31.20
Firmware type..............Midrange

Target detected
Unable to connect to the target device.
Failed to get Device ID

*****************************************************

The power light is on.
The blue active light is on and flashes off during the attempted write.
The status light is white and flashes to red during the attempted write.

Does anyone have any ideas what has happened.
The Pickit-3 is a clone but has never given trouble before.
I was pondering whether to get a second one as a backup.
Is it likely to be just a silly glitch that I have missed.  There was the glitch in the Pickit-3 to supply power being turned off.

hoping to hear some good news
Thank you
BILL.

Try a complete system shutdown, not a restart.  I once had my PicKit3, original, seize up in a similar manner after accidentally yanking out the USB cable during a project update.  The only final fix was to shut down my system & restart.
