Pin header connectors

This is probably a dumb question, but do header connectors, like these usually come with the actual crimp connectors, or do you need to buy those separately?

Separately from official distributors, but hobby shops (and ebay shops) also sell "sets" of for example connector, crimp and even pcb socket.

Thanks, guys. It looks like the crimp tools for these things are hundreds of dollars?! 

I think I'll just "crimp" them with a pair of pliers and solder the wire in.

Not necessarily. I got a pair of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/300908418152 and they're quite nice. Also, the shipping was very fast in my case (Europe). Domestic-kind-of-fast, actually.

I crimp my connectors using a small plier and it works like a charm! To ensure a perfect electrical connection we may can use a little drop of solder!

It depends on the contacts your connector requires.
Avoid connectors with small turned contacts, to crimp this contacts
you need a four-indent crimping tool, this tools are extremely expensive.



If the connector will not used for an aircraft or military application,
it's better to look for connectors with rolled or stamped contacts,
the crimp tools for this kind of contacts are a lot cheaper.
