Power supply battery charging

I have a gw instek 3060d. If i use this to charge a battery shpuld i use a diode in between or will it be ok to charge it without?

It should be fine without, although it may be worthwhile to include anyway in case the power is lost. I don't know how that power supply is designed but some of them don't like having the output driven by another source.
