Power supply op-amp selection
« on: October 06, 2012, 08:16:04 pm »
Hi

I've been designing a little Arduino PSU (pretty similar to Dave's uSupply). I've got almost everything sorted except for the op-amp selection. What op-amp should I choose for amplifying the PWM signal before it goes into the SET pin on the voltage regulator (it needs to be precise and as cheap as possible)? I guess for a simple buffer I could use a jellybean component like an LM324?

your looking for an op amp whose input and output include the lowest and highest voltage you need, being how its a pwm signal i presume you will be filtering it back to near DC, in which case slew rate wont be all that critical, if your looking for precision look for a low input offset voltage,

realy to spec any specific one you need to give us some more details like the voltage range,

Well, it has to be at least 0-15V.

i suggest you get the hang of parametric searches, as all of the information i gave you would have turned up the same or a similar part :/
