Programming remote receiver
« on: September 06, 2015, 09:37:23 pm »
A sh*tty remote receiver (image attached; it has the following markings: TY-RS-L011, v1.2) has stopped working. It was possible to toggle relay with a remote control, but it is no longer the case. It is now turning relay ON once power is applied and I can no longer control it. If I press a small button on the receiver it turns into another mode (I guess learning mode) and I can see how LED reacts to pushes of a button on a remote control. So, that tells me it still can correctly decode push button events, but it is no longer able to control a relay. I would like to know if I can somehow reprogram it so that it works correctly (I am hoping to find some magic button pressing sequence that allows to program it). Is there any information available about this receiver on the internet?

Yes, it would be much easier to order another one, but I don't want to wait for one month :).

Could be that the part (BJT, FET) that controls the relay has failed and is now shorted, that would explain the relay activating at power on and not being able to control it with the remote.
Keyboard error: Press F1 to continue.

Either the output driver is shorted as suggested above, or the receiver has forgotten the transmitter (less likely unless you held the rx  button as below!)

Typical operation:
The LED flash when you press a Tx button is simply saying it received a key, but other than 'opening' the relay, there is usually no other indications for a successful key press.

CAREFUL. If you hold the receiver button down for an extended period, it's will 'erase' all known Tx keys...!
Learning is usually - press the Rs button once quickly (sometimes a 'learn' LED will light up, then press a Tx key within 5-10 secs to memorise the key.
Don't ask a question if you aren't willing to listen to the answer.

PA0PBZ, thanks! You was right. S8050 (NPN) has failed. As I didn't have any suitable transistor to replace it, I have used BS270 (n-FET). Seems to be working fine.

SL4P, I see. I will try to program another remote control using your suggested method.
