RC toy car
« on: January 06, 2012, 02:06:42 pm »
Hello,
I just took apart another toy car ...  and it's the same TX-2B/RX-2B circuit found in most chinese crap http://pro-radio.ru/user/uploads/126799.pdf
one thing that keeps bugging me is the inductor on the motor wires. What's it's purpose? Is it part of a filter or snubber?
thanx

I would assume EMI suppression?

My guess is that it is a filter preventing interference, from the motor's brushes, affecting the circuit.

The toroid along with the 100n ceramic on the motor terminals form a common mode choke, so that the RF noise from the brushes does not interfere much with the receiver on board. If you remove them you will find range much reduced from what it was, and the car will be prone to locking up at full speed at times.
