i have a model for PMSM motor and i want to simulate it in modelsim by using vhdl . i red that hdl coder can be used to transfer he system to vhdl from matlab . but the Question is  it to use hdl coder in matlab or we should use it with dsp builder.

I have never used HDL Coder but the sales literature says you can take Simulink models and convert them to HDL for programming an FPGA.

I have some Simulink models that look a lot like analog computation (continuous time).  I wonder how that will get converted to discrete time.  That might be worth buying the add-on.
