Remove/replace transducer on cicuit board
« on: November 30, 2016, 05:01:48 am »
Few naive questions.

There is a circuit board and it has a vibrator on it (thing you have in a cell phone).
Can I just remove it?
Do I need to ensure the + & - wires are soldered through - to keep the connection going?

What if I replace it with a lower powered one?
(obviously I'd test the voltage and attach a resister for my smaller vibrator to protect it).

Cheers
Sorry for my silly questions, trying to get my head into electronics mindset.

If it is indeed a motor like in a cell phone, then just keep it disconnected and you should be fine. Those vibrators are tiny brushed motors, so you can replace them freely as long as nominal voltages match.

But will I need the + point to ground out?
What happens when the IC/circuit sends the current that way. Will it mess things up?

Nom just leave them disconnected. When driver wants to turn on the motor it applies the voltage. With motor removed, no current will flow, but nothing bad will happen.
