Title: Rigol DS1054Z auto-key locked
Post by: EdEditz on June 09, 2017, 06:14:46 pm
Hello, I just bought the Rigol DS1054Z oscilloscope and happy as a child at christmas I was playing along nicely when all of a suddent I managed to lock the "Auto" key. Now, you can only unlock this key by using your PC and some special software.
I've tried downloading UltraSigma about 10 times before I gave up. I just don't seem to get the whole package. The zip file is damaged every time. Can anyone here suggest an alternative way to get UltraSigma or maybe send it to me if you have it, using a file transfer site or something. I would really really appreciate it because, being a beginner with this scope, I found the feature rather handy.
If anyone knows of a better methode to unlock it then I'll be all ears for that too of course.
Btw, I wasn't sure where to put this thread but as this is only my second thread I thought I'd put it in the beginners section.
Thanks!!

This forum will probably work but Test Equipment is probably better.
No, I don't know the answer but I'll be following along in case I do it to mine.

Yes it will be useful to know to any DS1054Z owner I think.
Btw, I just read that it's also possible to use something called Telnet to do this. I never heard of that either. This is all new to me.
Anyone know something about this?

The telnet method is the simplest way.

Please see previous thread:

I have figured it out and I'll give a short outline of what I did because that is what I myself was looking for:

OK First I activated Telnet on my PC
To enable Telnet command line utilities:
1. Click Start > Control Panel.
2. Click Programs and Features.
3. Click Turn Windows features on or off.
4. In the Windows Features dialog box, check the Telnet Client check box.
5. Click OK. The system installs the appropriate files. This will take a few seconds to a minute.

Now open a CMD (command) window with Admin rights (right click and open with admin rights) (That's what it's called in Dutch, not sure 'bout English)

On your scope find out the IP address by going into 'Utilities > IO settings > LAN configuration

Now on your PC type in the Command Window: telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xx 5555  (the xxx's are the scopes IP address)

Check if you got a good connection by typing '*idn?'  (without the '' )

If you get your scopes make and serial number in return you've got a good connection

Now type: ':SYSTem:AUToscale ON'  (without the '' and beware the space before the word ON)

That's it!!   Job's a fish!!  :)

I hope this helps other people out. Thank you.
