Scantronic 500r
« on: May 20, 2017, 07:13:56 am »
Hi Guys,
I have just fitted a Scantronic 500r home alarm system by following the installation instruction.
It all appears to work except the transformer gets too hot once the mains supply is connected.
Can anybody explain why this happens.
Thanks.

How hot is too hot?

if it's really overheating it's entirely possible it's faulty out of the box or you've got a short somewhere...

Best, simple way to test would be to disconnect all the sensors/bellbox, let it cool down and then see if it still gets too hot, that'd rule out the alarm panel or your wiring/sensors.

If you've got a multimeter that'd make life easier to isolate problems
