Series / parallel switching two power supplies?
« on: October 27, 2016, 02:50:59 pm »
I have two HP computer 50V server power supplies switched as series or parallel using the switch arrangement similar to the attached image. I get 100V or 50V (at a LOT of Amps.... ;) Given I have a 3 way two pole rotary switch can I arrange it so in the third position I get 50V but from just one of the two supplies? Should be easy to work out, but I am having a "senior" moment here <LOL>  Thanks.
Best regards,

                 Chris Wilson.

I guess you can. Just add small modification to switching arrangement and use either parallel or series or single PSU.

Make sure that switch is break-before-make!

Thanks for the warning, it is, but I won't be doing any hot switching, cheers Paul.
