I thought about possibly making something inspired by this:
I have a ~10mm/0.39 inch inside diameter plastic tube of sorts. A slightly larger diameter one also, but it would require larger diameter magnets (so more expensive) to fit properly.
I'm considering the lowest budget option for parts - as the project is only a small experiment to see how well it works.
I would like to ask anyone that might know a few questions:
- Is there a small enough capacitor that might be suitable enough which could fit inside of the tube? Probably not, but worth asking about, as having most of the electronic components inside would be great. If only the LED was sticking out, that would be optimal, but obviously might not be simple.
- What kind of LED would be optimal? A 10mm one seems great and looks great for a flashlight, but I'm wondering about efficiency. Would it work better, worse or comparable if a higher power LED was used? E.g. one of those 1-3w LEDs with heatsinks, with a lens added, but ran at an equal or similar current that the 10mm one would use.
Parts will be from China, so getting exact schematics is sometimes possible, but not always easy.
