Soft latch power switch confusion

Hello there! I want to implement a soft latch switch in a test environment as an easy way to power up and power down a pcb under test. Being as it is 12v supplied by test clip and sometimes sparks come off when removing it! Reading up on LC voltage spikes, I am afraid this is causing some boards to not pass test after being shipped out and tested!

Would Dave's video on softlatch switch meet these requirements and if not does anybody know of a circuit to soft latch and reduce LC voltage spikes? Thanks!
