Solder mask question
«

So I got an xbox that had rrod.
I got a kit that change the heatsink mounting and fixed the problem.
The kit uses metal washers between the heatsink and the PCB.
The washers are slightly larger in dia than the pad around the hole on the pcb and comes very close to/covers a trace on the pcb.
I would assume that there is a solder mask covering the trace, preventing it from shorting out to the grounded heatsink.
How durable is the mask? Is this going to short out at some point do to the pressure of the washer?
Anybody care to chime in?
Thanks!

With pressure and heat, there's a very good chance the washer will eventually "sink" through the mask,
after all, it was only a liquid when first applied. Definitely worth fixing !!
