(The overall objective is as the title says; this is just the first subsection or so.  For a beginner level kit, I think it would be unfair not to cover these topics, at least very briefly, before getting into the meat of things.  The rest is a work-in-progress.)

Don't be discouraged by the lack of response so far. You only posted a bit over a day ago so it's early days. I think a lot of people would be interested but might not necessarily put a response here. I think, once the word gets out, there will be quite a few people who will be anxiously waiting for the next installment if you're going to 'publish' it that way. I for one will be keen to see further from you.
