SPI op codes for atmel 25640
« on: March 03, 2017, 03:52:41 pm »
Hi there,

I have an Atmel flash chip that I de-soldered and attached to a prototype board so I could learn about SPI. the datasheet is in the link below.

http://www.atmel.com/Images/Atmel-8535-SEEPROM-AT25320B-640B-Datasheet.pdf

I have a bus pirate and can get into the SPI menu but I am not understanding how to send the op-codes? I want to simply read data but everything I have tried doesn't seem to work. for example in table 6-1 of the data sheet I can see that READ is 0000 X011 so I have tried typing that in, I have tried that plus an address range and various other permutations. Does anyone have an example of what to actually enter into the prompt to get some data back? On YouTube there is a great video about SPI using the PI but in the video he mumbles something about "not knowing the right codes" so it isn't returning anything, I was hoping to see an example in there but it doesn't tell me anything. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks
