well you aren't going to figure it out by just staring at it....  ;D   open it up and have a look.

the button cover could be wedged between the case and the button, might be glued down with a sticky beverage, a bit of plastic might be broke or some flashing might be causing it to hang.  worst case, the button is collapsed and you have to order a new one.

Personally, if you have to ask, you shouldn't be pulling it apart..

Looks like one of those assemblies that can be popped rather easily; probably need to remove the keyboard first (usually some screws on be back and some clips buried between keys)

I was born with a screwdriver and a crowbar in my hands. I don't know about you.

But really, if you have to ask before opening something to take a look, you should ask yourself if the lack of confidence is for a reason..

I have had this problem with laptops in the past, You will find it is not the actual tactile button on the board but the plastic cap that is mounted in the case above the actual switch, what happens is wear in the plastic and the button slides sideways slightly, if you look carefully you will most likely see that it is not central in its socket, you can try a pin to move it over and centralize it again, then in future you have to be very careful to push the button straight down as any slight sideways force will move it over again. On some laptops the button bar will just pop of with a small lever (a screwdriver) if your's has a separate bar like this you can remove it and re-centralize the power button there is not normally a spring for the button return they rely on the spring force generated by the tactile button on the board which is often hardly enough force to lift the plastic button.

Your right G7. The button had slid to far to the left. I took the clip off and positioned it better. And there was some brown gooey stuff surrounding the button. i cleaned it out and now its no longer sticking. Thanks much. And your right Sonic, its not going to handle itself as though its in a dressing room. Needs a little assistance ;) Thx again :)
