Recommended Tips for Hakko FX-888
If you don't have the money to spend, and your not sure of the tips that work best for you, then get the cheap Chinese tips. They will not last as long as the Hakko tips, but they they will do the job. I like the larger tips like the D32 or D16 myself. I even use those for most of my SMD work. I hope this helps.
Others mentioned a while back the 900M (50W) tips fit the same as the T18 (65W) series tips. Hakko says they aren't compatible. The originals will be higher quality and perhaps thermally a tighter fit.But it remains to be seen if there is any real world difference. You can find them by searching for Hakko Tips. http://www.ebay.com/itm/141154085973You can also pick up a clone Hakko FG-100 for about $10 if you want to test the temp of your fake tips on a fake soldering iron thermometer.
