Synchronous motor driven from stepper controller?
« on: November 23, 2017, 12:08:20 am »
Is it possible to drive a small synchronous motor from one of the commonly available stepper drivers? Assuming that the synchronous motor is rated for 24vac, and you're feeding the stepper driver 24vdc. I'm also assuming that you would need to configure the stepper driver for no microstepping? Perhaps the uC code would need to alternate direction between steps to produce a sine wave?
