I wonder if rodents where a big problem? Not to be gross but there are many moving parts.

Not likely, no food left by the workers, who probably had strict lunch rules, and ate at ground level. Anyhow most of that wiring was asbestos insulated as well, not a thing rodents like to eat.

An to think that now we need more than a million transistors to do the same. All you need is some paper with holes in it....

I got a kick out of the guy smoking a cigarette.  While working.  From 20 stories up. 

And I didn't see any safety harnesses on some of those guys.

Those were the days.

And he rolled it himself, with paper and tobacco from a pouch as well....... Lit with a lighter fuelled with Benzine as well.
