Telefunken CDP 550A
« on: October 01, 2015, 03:57:01 pm »
Hi, i have this CD player for years and one day it didn't turn on, so i went to investigate and find a burnt resistor.
I swapped it with a 1k resistor and the LCD was dim, i swapped the 1k with a .680k one and it was the same dim lcd and no power to the laser head motor.
This is a long shot, anyone had the same problem?
It looks like it is not getting enough current going in.
Buttons work, LCD back light works but a little dim, front equalizer LED's look normal.
No movement of the laser head or its lens focusing system or laser light.
I even tried with an external power supply with 3,000 volts on the multimeter and no difference.

thanks.

That name brings back memories.

I know that the player was bought directly in Germany after the 90's and was a set with rechargeable batteries and speakers.

I though at first you meant 3 kV!  Then I realise that you're in Europe so "," = "."  :-DD

Russell.

At first i used a "." then i thought people would see 3kv so changed it. It was 3.000 V on the fluke 79III.  :-DD
