Thick terminal pins for PCB mounting - what are they called?
« on: December 10, 2018, 01:47:58 am »
Hey all,

I remember back in the day, getting a Jaycar voltage regulator kit that came with a bunch of round brass terminal pins.  These had a small ridge around them towards one end for limiting PCB insertion.

I have tried every description under the sun to find these pins to buy them for a project but the closest I can find are pogo pins which aren't what I'm after.

Any help appreciated, thanks in advance!!

PCB pins. Check out Mill-Max.com->Male PCB Pins->Solder Mount PCB Pin.

Oooh, that's some progress, thanks mate!  Doesn't look like I can still find anything on AliExpress by that name (interestingly, I've found "PCB dowel pins", but they're stainless which makes me think soldering isn't going to work!)

This has been super helpful though, thanks!

Thanks mate - I found these after blueskull's post and also some 1mm ones at Altronics.  I was hoping for something a bit fatter but these might just suffice!

Fatter? Again, turrets pins or terminals.

Rockby (http://www.rockby.com.au) have some 1.2mm diameter. Stock Number 33537. They have several other styles - search "PCB Pins".

Those pictures remind me of 1980s test gear and medical equipment. I'll have to keep those in mind, they provide a nice clean way to semi permanently attach wires.
