TI FTDI?
« on: April 24, 2015, 01:48:37 pm »
Hello, I was wondering if there was any kind of FTDI chip from Texas Instruments. I am planning on using my student samples to try making my own "launchpad" type device. I think This would be a great project to get into building something I will be proud of and can afford! :P

FWIW, TI already use FTDI devices for onboard debuggers on many of their Launchpads.

Decent alternative to the FTDI FT232, can thoroughly recommend.
Cypress is way, way better then FTDI:

TI has the TUSB3410. It has CDC ACM in ROM and can also load firmware from serial EEPROM or the host.

The MSP430F5529 has USB onboard and can easily be programmed to act like a USB Serial controller with about 6 lines of code in Energia (the Arduino equivalent for MSP430/Tiva C/MSP432/CC3200 devices).

Thank you all for the great reply's.  I have recieved a MSP430FG4250IDL from TI and i think i may have abused the samples to the limit. Too much I want to play with pops into my head when browsing the site. I never even knew there was a limit. I wonder if it resets after a particular amount of time or is just gone. You can see below I just got a little too excited to play around   :-//

You almost very nearly could at one point! :)

But yeah, you mean USB to UART chip?
