To study wave modulation

Hello folks,

Through simulate software I can see and understand the wave shape output. I connected the sinusoidal wave with 10V amplitude in Vinput and I get a new wave shape in connectors Vouput. I want do this in my lab. I have a generator function and a power supply. How should I connect all equipments to do the same thing I did in simulation software?

Something that is leaving me confused it is the fact that put in serie a function generator and a power supply.  Is it possible?
