« on: May 04, 2014, 02:48:23 pm »
on the London under ground train at the museum I work at http://www.walthamstowpumphousemuseum.org.uk/filming.html there is a metal bit sticking out of the train that says Sinclair on it. is it same Sinclair that made the Sinclair c5

here is a picture  https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=F0C48114460E32FD!113&authkey=!ALjO1mdxIK8KGQA&ithint=folder%2c.JPG

The funniest thing about this signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything its too late to stop reading it.

so what actually is it ? looks like a handle to me. Don't forget that sinclair went by the by quite a few years ago. chances someone is using the name. it happes often. Like Quad still exist in name but it's just a front badge for some taiwanese made gear made by a company that just buys up companies and uses their original names.

Is that the same sinclair who made the C5?

I doubt it, they are a division of someone else so either a coincidence or someone who bought the name when sinclair went bust.

It's a "Heavy Duty 380-400 MHz Train Antenna" . Part of some form of safety communications system (rather than telemetry).

At the moment it's closed to the public because of renovation and building work but I can link in a load of pictures if you like.

As I know trains does use fiber optics or twisted pair over TCN [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Train_Communication_Network ].

Trains could not use wireless in it's sensor network, even for a backup system.
Sir , what telemetry exactly that you refer there?

Signature goes over here.
