Transformer output

Will a 2x18v output at 18VA give me 1amp output or .5 amp.

I am looking at this..

If you look at the print on the actual transformer it gives it away: It's 9VA per secondary winding. So each of the 18V can give you 500mA.

but , and there is always one of those, if I centre tap the two lines is that then 1 amp or .500 , line to line voltage confuses me.

If you join the two 0 - 18V secondary windings together you'll have 36V at 500mA. Or if you tap the centre to make a split rail to supply +18V / 0V / -18V, you'll get +18V at 500mA and -18V at 500mA.

Thank you McB that was what I was after. I need to split rail it so i will get 500mA which is enough. Your a star.
