What happens if I wire Transformer secondaries in series backwards?
What I am trying to do is wire 2 secondaries in series so that their voltages add together, but as both ends on each secondary have the same color wire, I have no way to tell the polarity (Phase?) to get the right 2 secondary wires connected to each other.
Does it matter? I assume it does since the transformer data sheets I look at have polarity markings.
I figure a 50/50 chance of wiring it right. If I put the secondaries in series properly, the voltage will be the 2 added together, but if I get it wrong, what happens? I am assuming I'll see a lower voltage, but is it safe? Will it damage the transformer?
One winding is 16V, the other 3V. 16V is just shy of what I need, so 19 will do, with some extra voltage to spare. I am rectifying this into a DC regulator.
Thanks
