Type of GSM RF Connector? Possibly MMCX?
« on: July 26, 2015, 12:47:30 am »
Hi everyone for who is reading this. I am in the UK and I have an intruder alarm panel which is cellular/GPRS enabled that has a 3G GSM antenna. The alarm panel is inside a cupboard and the cable of the supplied antenna is only about 20cm long and thus no GSM signal is received by the panel due to it being in a enclosed cupboard along with the added effect of living in a rural area.

Thus I essentially need to by an external 3G GSM antenna what has a cable length of about 5 meters. The thing is I don't recognize the type of RF connector and thus need to make sure that the external antenna that I buy has the right connector type. The connector is a push fit type and while it looks like MMCX type connector from my own research, I am not 100% sure.

The square base part of the connector is about 3.62mm wide and the round bit at the end of the connector is about 2.38mm in diameter. Pictures below.

looks like a MMCX I have a few cables around and the diameter of the connector is about 2.4mm.
The square base on a right angle is about 3.6mm for my connectors.
