Understanding a concept about power mos
« on: September 11, 2015, 03:19:09 pm »
Hello,

First post here. Great site, I have learned a lot from your youtube videos.

Anyway, I have a basic conceptual question about some power mosfets I bought for a project.

I have some STP75NF20 which are rated for 200v and 75amp in the TO-220 package.

I am just wondering how something so small and with such small leads can handle that type of power.

Where as wire rated for that current and voltage would typically have a diameter larger than the entire mosfet.

And what is the proper way to make the high power connections to the device with large diameter wire?
